The importance of skin hydration
Share
Hydrated skin looks good and pleasant, but this is not the only reason why it is important. Skin is the largest human organ, keeping it healthy can promote skin health and maintain good functionality. Skin hydration provides the basic environment to overall skin health, where a strong and healthy skin can help protecting against microorganisms, dehydration, environmental pollution, physical damage and so much more. Moreover, sufficient water also helps our skin to heal. It can repair itself more efficiently from damages as it promotes cell regeneration and recovery.
Dry skin may lead to irritation and skin cracking, which makes it susceptible to infections. Adequate hydration maintains supple and plump skin, providing strong skin barriers and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Properly hydrated skin can better absorb and retain the active ingredients in your skincare products, making them much more effective. This means that your serums, moisturizers, and other products will be more effective when applied to well-hydrated skin.
The easiest method by far to keep skin hydration is to drink plenty of water throughout the day. In places with low humidity or during the winter seasons, we recommend using a humidifier to add moisture to the air, introducing more water particle to be in contact with skin. Although we understand using hot showers add a sense of comfort and helps with relaxation, it can also strip your skin of natural oils leading to dry skin. Using appropriate ingredients such as ceramide and hyaluronic acid can help attract and retain moisture in our skin. For further benefits, using a moisturizer after bath can also help to lock the water in our skin.
